Illiteracy No More

निरक्षरता अब नहीं

Our aim is to eradicate illiteracy from the world.

What is Guruji?

Guruji is an LED-based blackboard with several inbuilt audio-visual lessons which enables a child to learn to read, write, count, add and subtract as effortlessly as one learns to speak and understand one’s mother tongue. The blackboard is operated using a hand-held infrared remote. Click here to know more.

How does Guruji teach?

The teaching method incorporated in Guruji involves five inherently interactive steps: View, Listen, Speak, Write, Repeat.

Why do we need Guruji?

Learning a language is difficult. However, if one knows the language, learning
to read and write it is comparatively easy.

All illiterate people – children as well as adults – know the language. It’s their mother tongue. They only have to learn to read and write it.

The reason why so many people remain illiterate is due to the current form of teaching which requires:

  1. Motivated teachers with some minimal schooling infrastructure.
  2. Support of a literate person at home at least in the initial period of learning.

A large part of rural population in a country like India has neither.

According to ASER report 2010:

Though 96.5% children are in school, even after 5 year of schooling,

  • 47% of class V students can not read a simple story
  • 64% of class V students can not do arithmetic division.
